The evidence would suggest it is mostly the latter regardless, it was an interesting exercise akin to time travel with a few surprises along the way. There were no prints, no album, no hooks for associated memories, so the detail of the trip was lodged in the brain’s discard folder and drip fed to the recycle bin so this is the conundrum – how much of my long term memory of events is based on the actual experience and how much is based on a collection of pictures. For some long forgotten reason I had temporarily abandoned Kodak’s black and white Tri-X Pan in favour of colour the results looked good held up to the light but with no suitable projector they were filed and forgotten. This prompted me to go searching for some pictures I was convinced I had taken with a Mamiyaflex C330 on 120 roll film – I could find no black and white contacts but eventually came across some colour positives. We recently took a trip along the Llangollen Canal, a place I last visited in 1977 the odd thing is I could remember virtually nothing from the previous visit other than the well-known highlights such as Chirk and Pontcysyllte Aqueducts. Yes Microsoft's Fax/scan works on XP with the scanner but it forgets the setting every time you scan.I do not claim to have a photographic memory in the normal sense, quite the reverse, I suspect I have a memory which is in large part based on photographs. Unless both the printer and scanner are attached directly. I don't want to use the scan/print program as I need to have a printer attached to the old XP computer. Trying to find the original Epson Scan for 32 bit systems seems to be lost to time as well. Getting my old XP computer to share files with the Win10 computer isn't working out either soĪny help there would be good. I'm not too well versed on the subject but any insight would be interesting as I have wanted this scanner to work again for a very long time on my main computer. They must have had to completely re-write the macro and scramble it. Their driver only works with VueScan and no other. I suspect the same people made that 64bit driver a whileīack but got smart and realized they were sitting on a gold mine. Might as well buy a new one for that price. I know it works but you have to pay them $50 a year for the darn thing to work without that watermark. I am aware of Hamrick Industries VueScan utility. Then they set a number like 3 computers and now only one computer.

Point of interest I remember WinXP Pro allowed for private owners to install as many instances of the OS on as many computers they wanted I am aware of 3rd party virtual programs and having a multi boot partitioned system so I'm not looking for answers there. To communicate or tunnel through for the settings now does it? To make this happen it opens the back door to hackers doesn't it? The scanner doesn't allow for the new programming I noticed this with Microsoft's provided Fax/scan program with Win10. The scanner simply doesn't communicate certain variables like the new scanners. Missing a hash that is not compatible with Win8.2 and above. Just the same I am suspicious over the Epson 1650 Twain5 driver

I am fully aware of the security issues Microsoft has trying to keep back doors closed with old programs which is the reason they have supplied the Win10 upgrade for free to Win7 OS owners.

Is no compatibility mode for 16 bit drivers for old Windows 98 games as well. The upgrade to Win10 Pro I was hoping would make up for the Virtual XP loss with advanced compatibility mode but it has failed here. There
Epson perfection 1650 64 Bit#
I got Win7 Ultimate 64 bit because it had the Virtual XP and compatibility mode that worked better than the Home version. I haveĪnother laptop with Win10 Home on it without any type of Office on it so I'll try to install it on that and post the results. I had a lot of Office 2007 updates at that time and I wonder if my old Office is the problem.
Epson perfection 1650 update#
Every time Win10 had a major update I had to uninstall and reinstall Epson Scan utility and the Twain5 driver but not after mid 2017. Some 3rd party provided the 64 bit driver and it worked for Win7 and Win10 The scanner should have stopped working after I upgraded to Win7 64bit. The problem is the TWAIN5 driver is missing a "hash" therefore will not even install whether it works or not. I should point out the 64 bit version was written by some third party but they never bothered to repair it. Is the Twain5 driver that once worked in VISTA 64bit is no longer recognized. They no longer even provide their perfectly good scan utility and now only provide scan/print utility which does work in a 64 bit environment. Epson never has given a 64 bit driver for this scanner. This problem has gone on for about 1 to 2 years.
